What was most helpful was the synthesis of the document. Especially in this lesson the two little lists encapsulate the strength of the missionary mandate. It has given me a lot to think about. As a friend of mine says, “how do we move those who are spiritually fat and happy and convince them to become lean, mean, evangelizing machines?” It is going to take a re-evangelization, a fervor from the Holy Spirit. It takes emotion, the sense of falling in love with Christ and his Church in order to want to introduce everyone else to Him. A priest about twenty years ago used this example in a homily about our missionary responsibility. He said that a little boy was waiting for his dad when Fr. Kelly walked up to him. The dad was approaching from the other side. The little boy said to Fr. Kelly, “That’s my dad! You’re really going to like him!” The point being that we need to be willing to introduce folks to Christ and the Sacraments with the same enthusiasm.

    1. For evangelizing, we so desperately need the Holy Spirit. Without Him, their will be no power or anointing to witness to the unsaved.

    2. This course has kindled the flame of the Holy Spirit to ignite me to have a stronger passion to evangelize. Their is a hell and I want to be used by God to help as many people escape hell as possible.

    1. The most helpful for me has been the reminder of what I believe God has called me to do in the field of evangelization. He has gifted me as a person who can easily share my faith with others. I have experienced the Holy Spirit working through me to evangelize others - many times as described in this document and the instructor’s commentary. I also was able to identify part of why my fire has burned out, or at least has become not more than a smoldering ember. I seem to have removed myself from what God is asking me to do. I have failed to nurture and nourish myself and have allowed the human element of the Church to influence my fire and mission. I have failed to submit myself to the Holy Spirit as I KNOW I am asked to do.

    2. I have been looking for that spark that will send me on the way that I think God is calling me to. I find this lesson very helpful. It reminds me that I MUST spend more time in prayer and study. I must find a way to forgive and move on from the incidents that I have allowed to stand in my way and keep me from doing what the Holy Spirit is calling me to do. I must do the work, prayer, study, faith sharing, that I need to do so that I will once again become the person who can be open enough to the working of the Spirit that I might once again live for God.
