3 Stages in the Calling to Ministry

Calling – Confirmation – Commitment

(Evangelization Aids)

lilies represent ministryDescription: This handout explains the calling, confirmation of the calling, and commitment to the calling in lay ministry. It will inspire your parishioners to say yes to ministry with a feeling of confidence.

Stage 1: The calling to ministry usually grows slowly out of the events of our life, work, talents, learned skills, and areas of interest. Stage 2: The Confirmation might come from the invitation of others, but we must not wait for others to give us the push we need. Stage 3: Are you willing to make a commitment and surrender your personal time and needs, your personal routines and business pressures for the sake of those you will serve? We commit ourselves to the Father to become obedient to his will. We commit ourselves to Jesus to become leader-servants like him. We commit ourselves to the Holy Spirit to become empowered to do the Father’s will and to better imitate Jesus.

Beth Solis, a group facilitator in Oklahoma, says, "Our members asked us in the beginning if we minded taking things slowly so we could have time to really discuss each paragraph. We always have such great discussion! The PPT has been very helpful and is a nice addition."
